Note: After installation, the film must be cured for at least 36 hours before any washing, polishing, or similar treatments.
This allows the pressure-sensitive adhesive to fully bond to the vehicle’s surface and for any residual moisture to evaporate.
During this time, keep the vehicle in a clean, dry environment, ideally at 20°C – 30°C (68°F – 86°F).
Avoid water exposure, car washes, or high humidity to prevent edge lifting, bubbling, or compromised adhesion.
This is a standard post-installation procedure recommended for all Ghost Shield PPF applications to ensure long-term performance.
Use a clean microfiber towel or suede; we recommend using only synthetic wax to clean the film. Natural wax is not recommended. Do not use any colored wax resin.
Immediately wash away any foreign matter (ie, worm splash, bird droppings, etc.). If left on the film for a long time, dyeing may occur, just as these acids will invade your precious paint as long as they are left unattended.
Wash the car as normal. If a pressure washer is used, the nozzle must be at least 30 inches from the edge of the film to avoid flaking. Do not point the nozzle at the edge of the film as it pushes down and lifts the film.
Wax and dust may form on the edges of the film. To remove, simply wipe the edges with a cotton swab dipped in 75% isopropyl (rubbing) alcohol.
Do not use: solvent-based cleaners; deodorants or degreasers; friction compounds or any abrasive materials; high-speed polishing or polishing equipment can be used, but at a slower speed and less power. We recommend testing in the small bumper section before using the hood or fender.
